One of my main goals for 2011 was to have work shown somewhere in Chicago. The year was off to a good start in February when I traveled to the WOLFPACK! show in New York to sell prints of my illustrations based on photos by Walt Cessna. On Memorial Day I applied to several different shows as part of the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Fest with high hopes, only to get rejected by every one. On my birthday.

Then last week I got an e-mail from someone who saw my name on the list of applicants for MAAF and asked if I’d like to show work at an exhibit about the relationship between the lgbt and health care communities. 

Yes, please. I’ll be showing the above pieces, one of which is a portrait of the most relevant boy on Livejournal based on a photo by Ryan Pfluger. The internet stares back.

Unfortunately I’ll be missing the opening and cocktails by Hendrick’s Gin (what!) tonight to instead see Beauty of the Father, a play I’ve been doing design work for.
